Pool Time
I invite you into the pool ~~ the word pool. Poet Susan Goldsmith Wooldridge was the coach of my first jumps into word pools. She is the author of “poemcrazy: freeing your life with words.” It’s a guide I’ve loved for more than a decade. In poemcrazy she presents the idea of someone tossing words your way.
[cramp drought funnel Grrr luscious persevere quandary swamp]
Now, write those eight words up into a poem. Sprinkle in any order Go! I invite you to read how I arranged those words on the page in my poem, “What to do with a drifted stick in winter?”

Appreciations for Susan's teachings & for MoSt's continued celebration of word pools. MoSt provided the pool list for my poem. Some say word pools are a shield against blank page syndrome, aka writer's block. I love that they are a romp for the mind. Susan G. This unlikely rose, captured by my camera & haiku words, arrived because my hubby & I took a neighborhood walk & he directed my sky-watching eye down, to this surprise.

A different poem, celebrating the power of written words, “Lucky” is published in the recent 2021 CADENCE, Florida State Poets Association Anthology 39, below.
SNAKEBIRD 2021, a chapbook from Anhinga Press [below] also accepted one from me, on creativity, “Only Your Recent Works”, as did the BIRMINGHAM ARTS JOURNAL summer issue 2021. I also am pleased to share other poem publications of 2021. DIG pubbed the above rose ekphrastic haiku in its informative disability news website newsletter & it also popped into into a sweet sticker you see at top sent to me by poet Margaret Simon. I’m honored my poem “Shore Good Friday’ is wrapped up within the MoSt Poetry Center’s New Year Poetry Challenge 2020-2021 chapbook.
Appreciations to all the chapbook readers, editors & designers.
Some great poem links are further down this page.
